Lauren joined the Hocky group through the NYU Chemical Biology REU/Simons Undergraduate Research Fellowship in summer 2023. She was a rising junior at Worcester Polytechic Institute where she was majoring in biotechnology and computer science. At WPI she was an undergraduate research assistant in Carissa Olsen's lab, and conducted research investigating the impact of glucose on fatty acid dynamics in the membranes of C. elegans. Lauren pursued development of computational models to simulate biochemical procecees, in particular bacterial membranes.
