About Ivan Mendoza

Ivan received his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (Peru), and performed a three month internship in the Hocky group as part of the Research Experiences for Peruvian Undergraduates (REPU) program. His academic interests focus on computational modeling of complex protein-ligand interactions for drug discovery and reaction mechanisms using Density Functional Theory (DFT). In Prof. Hocky's lab, he researched the molecular dynamic inhibition of Halomethyl ketones to prevent the formation of Tc80 as a treatment for Chagas disease. Additionally, he worked on linked colloidal systems. Besides academia, he enjoys science fiction literature, playing the piano, and walking through new places.
